Introduction
God inspired prophet Isaiah around 100BCE/BC in a series of prophesy which we refer to as book today (the book of Prophet Isaiah as some will fondly say today) with the particular message (or at least one of it) in the referenced chapter aimed at rectifying the anomaly called hypocrisy in worship which includes but is not limited to worship done without requisite peace with God and men in words and deeds John 4:24, Heb. 12:14.may we be blessed as we study at His feet in Jesus mighty name amen.

                                               Hindrances to acceptable worship
Religiousity vs. 2ff religion in the passage includes: coming daily to the temple vs. 2, motions of penance vs. 5, dress in sackcloth vs.5, fasting vs.3. Remember the Pharisee in Luke 18:11-12.
Oppressing workers/subjects, God’s sheep or anybody for that matter vs. 3 remember Laban changed Jacob’s wages ten(10) times and I do not think it was upward review as he complained Gen 31:7
Fighting and quarrelling vs.3...Pursue peace with all men…
Creating/spreading vicious rumours vs.9 James 3:8-9 paraphrased tongue although small is restless, evil full of deadly poison, our tongues need to be sanctified. The same tongue used to praise God can be sometimes employed/deployed to wreck serious havocs on His creature.

Practical worship
Improve the welfare of workers as much as God gives the capacity Vs.6
Free the imprisoned vs.6
Give food/shelter/clothes vs. 7 & 10 there are people who we are better than and whom God is counting on us to support not just pray for. Gal 6:10 do good to everyone…….
Don’t hide from those who need the help that you can give Vs.7 in Luke 10:25-37 Jesus continued His teaching on the most important commandment which is Love in action a Priest and what some version of the scripture refers to as a temple assistant had passed same road.Vs.31 & 32.little wonder we are to look unto God for help because the best of men is still a man.

God’s response to acceptable worship in Isaiah 58
Healing from God vs. 8
Protection vs.8 & 11, Ps. 127:1 except the Lord keeps the city….
Speedy answers Vs.9
Great honour vs. 14

Conclusion
God is not a beggar, neither is He stranded of worship Is.6:3, Luke 2:13, Rev.4:8-11, 5:11, 7:10, Luke 2:13.
If we are to worship God acceptably we should give Him the worship due to Him and do same at His terms Mal 1:6.May God by His spirit help us to do this and more in Jesus mighty name Amen.
