KNOWING JESUS SERIES 8 (OUR PRIEST)

There are priests but there is a priest, one like no other, so special, did I say so nay too special, far above all others, the priest of humanity, here are edges that makes him so and also priest of all humanity: past, present and future.

(a)    Duration: all Priests: past, present and future have a lifespan, expiry date, an end they could not do anything about. Heb 7:23 says and they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death, Heb 9:27a says and it is appointed unto men once to die. But the priesthood of Jesus is ageless timeless borderless and forever. Heb 7:24 says but this man because he continueth ever hath an unchangeable priesthood.

(b)    Nature: His priesthood is perfect, Heb 7:27 says who needeth not daily as those high priest to offer sacrifices first for His own sins. The first sacrifice that priests offers is for their own sins, this isn’t the case with Priest Jesus.1 John 3:5 says and ye know He was manifested to take away our sin and in Him is no sin. Heb 12:24 says And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant and to the blood of sprinkling that speaketh better things than the blood of Abel, the reason for speaking better thing is that the blood is the life of God. Lev 17:14a says for it is the life of all flesh, the blood of it is for the life thereof, saying by implication that blood is life. Hence the blood of God is the life of God and it is sinless and perfect.

(c)    Object of sacrifice: Heb 9:14 says how much more shall the blood of Christ who through the eternal spirit offered himself without spot to God. Other priest’s has objects of sacrifice or medium of worship outside themselves but he willingly used Himself as the object. John 10:17-18 therefore doth my father love me, because I lay down my life that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down and I have power to take it again.

(d)   Once for all: Heb 7:27 says who needeth not daily as those high priests to offer up sacrifices, first for his own sins and then for the people’s, for He did it once and is potent for sin commited through all ages: Past, present and future. Thank you our priest.

THE ANNOINTING SERIES

Text: Isaiah 61:1-2,Act 10:38

Introduction: God does bless people with the anointing he trusts them with it, John 3:34b says for God giveth not the spirit by measure unto Him talking about Jesus whom God anointed without measure and one reason for this is that He(Jesus)could be trusted without measure hence the anointing without measure, this can also be withdrawn unlike gifts.  If you find Heaven’s power/anointing you will enjoy earth’s treasure Kathryn Kulhman underscoring the scripture in Matt 6:33 which says but seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added to you, the rush to get other things even by clergy  is because we have neglected the simple instruction of seek the kingdom and his righteousness, there is so much demonic manipulation and manifestation even in a lot of church that those who are carrying the anointing are never out of job and demand.

When one is anointed, he does very hard and seemingly impossible task with too much ease: a visit to the zoo will tell that by physical looks only lion are not men’s mate fiery, forceful and powerful but men under auction, carrying an anointing from above killed it with bear hand. Samson Judges 14:5-6 , David 1 Sam 17:36.

  What is the anointing?
It is God’s power made available to men Act 10:38
It is God’s spirit in motions .1king 18:46
It God capacity expressed via a man.1 king 17:1, Josh 10:12.

Medium of transferring the anointing most also are the symbols of the anointing.

Anointing is carried by Human in fact the Hebrew translation of the word anoint is mashach which means to rub in, rub in into humans and same can be transferred by the carriers (human) this does not in any way distort the fact God is the source and owner of the referenced, and distributes it to fulfill His eternal plan and purpose. Psalm 115:3

HOW TO WORK FOR GOD.

1
.   1.  Intercession: This is a class in God’s vineyard, they visit God’s throne through prayers all the time and not only for themselves but for God’s work, evangelism, as they are led and as the need arises.
2 Cor 1:11 says Ye also helping together by prayer for us that for the gift bestowed upon us by the means of many person thanks may be given by many on our behalf.

2.     Our skill talent and gift: Bezaleel and Ohodiab were endowed by God to aid the temple work, God gave us talent/gift which must be discovered, developed and deployed for use in His kingdom hence working in God’s vineyard.

3.     Taking care of the poor, widow and the needy: Prov 19:17 says He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord and that which he hath given will he pay him again. God pays back with interest in manifold, what a rewarding investment.
All that God has given unto us has two ways with which he expect us to administer it, first in bread and this is for our immediate nourishment and this is exhausted there and then never to be remembered.
The second is seed and this is what we sow into multifarious kingdom outlets and this only goes into our future to wait for us. Illustration by Pastor Tayo Owolabi. There is no human being that has all it takes to do all he/she wants to do in life if so, why not partner with God.

    4. Taking care of God’s servant: When that Shunammite woman took notice and took care of prophet Elisha, it was a God sent service that brought her heavenly commendation and miracle long awaited.
2King 4:9-10 says And she said unto her husband, behold now I perceived that this is an holy man of God, which passeth by us continually. Let us make a little chamber, I pray thee on the wall and let us set for him here a bed, and a table and a stool and a candlestick and it shall be when he cometh to us, that he shall turn in thither.
She did not know that she was getting her own miracle that her action was going to make her have and keep a son in her life.

KNOWING JESUS 7(TO RECONCILE ALL THINGS)

MADE FOR COMPANIONSHIP: man was created in the image of God, Gen 1:27 says so God created man in His own image, in the image of God created he him and male and female created he them. God made man for companionship firstly with God and then with fellow man, little wonder he called unto Abraham even at age ninety-nine to walk before Him meaning let your relationship with me be right. Gen 17:1 And when Abraham was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram and said unto him, I am the almighty God walk before me and be thou perfect. And the issue of companionship encapsulates Jesus repeated question to peter in John 21:17a which says he saith unto him the third time, Simon son of Jonas, lovest thou me?   Also a study of the book of the beginnings Gen 3:8 which says And they heard the voice of the lord God in the cool of the day and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden. This scriptures shows something, their reaction suggests that they were used to His voice, if without seeing his face they still knew His voice, this means they had a relationship, had fellowship with one another before then and it must have been taking place in the garden hence they had to hide from their usual meeting point(s).

DEAD TO HIM: Gen 2:17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil thou shall not eat of it for in the day thou eatest thereof thou shall die. One unequivocal character of God is that he does not joke, he means what he says and says what he means. Men in Adam actually died and we lost what connected us to God, His provisions, fellowship and by and large companionship. Men started struggling to do almost everything, the need and drive for survival replaced our companionship with Him. The spiritual nature in man died, and we know that God is spirit John 4:24a says God is spirit we could not connect to God as a wood can’t easily connect to an iron. We went totally off the radar. WE DIED TO HIM.

CHRIST DID IT: one of the most important events that accomplished Jesus’ physical presence is recorded in Matt 27:51 which says and beheld the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom and the earth did quake and rocks rent. The temple had calibrations viz: outer court, the court and the Holy of Holies and with it is restricted access in accordance to laws. The curtain represents the hindrance or restrictions. The death of Jesus as unveiled in this scripture gave an unhampered access, direct contact, relationship and companionship that was lost in the Garden of Eden back to men. He came and died for this outstanding purpose of returning the lost men to an ever waiting and willing father Halleluyah. Have you come to the provincial grace of our lord Jesus?

SHALOM.
