MIGHTY TO SAVE

TEXT: Zeph 3:15-17 & Is 63:1-3

BACKGROUND TO THE STUDY

When the cause is removed the effects will cease, for every symptom there is a cause and  both isn’t the same, so it is not only illogical to treat effects and symptoms only but it is also inconsequential. David responding to effect said in 1 Sam 17:29c which says is there not a cause.
The passage Zeph 3 the first fifteen verses is prophetic, which talks about several things that the referenced people will go through viz: being scattered, pain, chastisement and a handful of difficulties but a cursory look at the passage resonates three words: Sin, saving and restoration, Heralding the mandate of Jesus especially from verses 13, this is stated in Matt 1:21 which says and she will give birth to a son and you are to name him Jesus for he will save his people from their sins. And also Joel 2:28 which says I will restore you the years that the swarming locust has eaten.

INTRODUCTION
The devil employs all form of attacks on Christians to get their attention. He does this with intention and vigour because he knows that anything/anyone that gets one’s attention is already on the way to give such person direction. And secondly we are already in sin breaking God’s law when our attention is not on him. We are hence vulnerable little wonder he goes through all the process and means of attack, throwing all his possible darts at us. This following scriptures supports this Heb 12:2a says looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith, John 3:14 & Num 21:9 both talks of salvation by looking up to be saved and safe, the snake in the Old Testament and Jesus in the New Testament. All we need to do is look and live.
Matt 14:30 says But when he saw the wind, he started sinking, Apostle peter didn’t sink because he was walking on water or because Jesus disappeared, he sank because he shifted focus from the master JESUS lets continue to look unto Him for all round salvation and freedom.

MIGHTY TO SAVE, THE LESSONS
·         A reason for thanks. 2 Chor 2:14 now thanks be to God which always causeth us to triumph in Christ. Romans 7:25 (NCV) I thank God for saving me through Jesus.

·         A demand for action 50:15.

CONCLUSION
Whatever the situation is we serve a God that is mighty Zeph 3:17, cares enough to save(willing to save) 1 pt 5:7 casting all your cares on him, for he cares for you.

KNOWING JESUS SERIES 9 ( OUR LORD)

All professing Christians accept Jesus as saviour, we believe He came to seek and save the lost by His precious blood Luke 19:10 says for the son of man came to seek and to save that which was lost. The main thrust is accepting Him as Lord by confession and practice that is Jesus being the controller, dictator and overseer of our thought, pursuits, purpose, plans, actions, reactions and inaction s.

If He really is Lord, the obvious struggles, backstabbing, backbiting, usage of derogatory words and comments, contentions and at time fights and all negative things that happens even in the fold will be a thing of the past .Heb 12:14 says follow peace with all men and holiness without which no man shall see the Lord.

God gave Him a name that typifies and commands lordship  Phil 2:9-10 says wherefore God also hath highly exalted him and given Him a name that is above every name that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow of things in heaven and things in earth and things under the earth.

Our service and worship will be grossly inadequate if we see Him only as our saviour and not as Lord as even the centurion confessed Him as son of God Mark 15:39 says and when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that He so cried out and gave up the ghost, he said, truly this man was the son of God, this happened when he saw the events and signs that happened at that time. Various Synoptic records in Matt 8:28-29, Mark 1:24,Luke 4:32-34 & 41 clearly records where those who were possessed of demos accepted Jesus’ s Sons hip of God .So the balance is if the centurion who was part of the facilitator of His death and demons who by exhibition are anti-Christ could accept some statement about Jesus, we are not better if we accept His saving mandate and not His Lordship. Let’s turn a new leave.

Jesus   is both my saviour and Lord.

MAXIMISING YOUTHFULNESS/LIFE

(A)INTRODUCTION: The wealthiest spot on this planet is not Tokyo Japan with a GDP of $1,520 billion or New York with a GDP of $1,210 Billion or the oil fields of Saudi Arabia or the gold mine of South Africa. The richest deposit on our planet lies in not too distant from us CEMENTRY. Buried therein are songs never sung, books not written, ideas that didn’t come to reality youthfulness/life not maximized, may God empower us to maximize our youthfulness and life in Jesus mighty name.

(B)DEFINITION OF TERMS
Maximizing: it is from the word maximum which means to make the best use of something, make something of greatest amount, size, speed etc that is possible.
Youthfulness: It is from the word youth which means the following
1. According to Wikipedia a time of life when one is young, but often means the time between childhood and adulthood, it is also defined as the period of much show and belief in appearance, freshness, vigor, spirit etc.
2. According to UN for statistical consistency across regions defines youth as those people between the ages of 15 and 24 years without prejudice to other definition by member states.
3. Cambridge English dictionary it is a period of your life when you are young or the state of being young.
4.Nigeria youth policy document 2009 defines youth as a person between the ages of 18 and 35.

BRIEF TRACE OF YOUTH IN CHRIST APOSTOLIC CHURCH
The word started emergence in 1949 with the prayer warrior/prayer battalion this latter gave birth to another group called the light of the world in 1966, then another group CACSA in 1970, then UAC in 1973 in 1992 the authorities of the church cancelled all the group and established CACYOF and the first rally was held in 1993 with the theme that their children may hear in Deut 31:13.
The youth fellowship has a vision: Spiritual breakthrough that manifests in all round fulfillment through organisation of need-meeting programme evangelism and church planting. And to achieve this fellowship CACAYOF IS BROKEN INTO THREE:

CHILDREN AND PUPILS: 1-12
TEENAGERS 13-19
ELITES 20-50.
(C)HOW TO MAXIMISE YOUTHFULLNESS/LIFE

1. Know and remain with your source: A manufacturer’s product must remain related to its source in order to be maintained and for optimal performance.2 chro 26:5.God guarantees our maximum performance if we remain related to Him and submit to the conditions, specification and standard set by Him.

2.See the Big picture(vision):Every product exists for a specific purpose, that is the original intent is essential because the purpose for which something was made determines its design, nature, potential and of it will be maximized. God made you for a purpose find it only in it can you be maximum. Gen. 37:9.

3. Get the right qualification / other forms of trainings: to be qualified according to the oxford advance learner’s dictionary (eight editions) in areas to have skill, experience and training that is/are necessary for a particular job. David in 1 Sam. 16:16, 16:18.

4. Get to work (be diligent): Ability is useless until it is given responsibility (My Les Munroe). Prov. 22:29 talks about being diligent which means constant: efforts attention, persistent in pursuit of something. The first thing God gave Adam was work Gen. 2:15, work is a major key to maximizing our lives, claiming promises does not make it happen, the land was promised to the children of Israel but they had to walk it out to posses it Deut. 11:24. Good ideas do not maximize life but good hard work does.

5. Avoid sin & distractions: Sin is a sinker and a weight Heb. 12:1,the heavier anything is the slower the speed,   Gen. 39:9, Is. 59:1 sin makes man fruitless Ps. 1, sin cuts man from God’s presence, favour and intervention II Chro 7:14.

6. Build your character: No man succeeds in isolation, God has mixed us in such a way that we all depend on each other to get something done. He does not only expect us to live in harmony with one another but has provided the how, the fruit of the spirit Gal. 5:22-23

7. Prayer: We live in a world where everything and everyone wants to go against your fulfillment except God and Godly brethren Ger. 17:9,prayers will pave the way for all efforts to yield results, prayer can do all that God can do.  Prayer is an aroma that attracts heavenly attentions to man’s situation, praying is touching the hands that hold the world. Man lost authority in the Garden of Eden but regain it in the garden of Gethsemane in prayers (Rev. George Adegboye). Great destinies are birthed and maximized on the altar of prayer I Thess. 5:17

Conclusion
God want us to maximize our lives and youth III John 2 but we have roles of agreement among others to do, to make this a reality. Having a maximize life in Jesus name (Amen)

LOOSE HIM AND LET HIM GO.

Text: John 5:1-15 & 11:30-44

INTRODUCTION

You can be resurrected and still be restricted like Lazarus, can be raised and be limited, can be sincerely saved and still suffer oppression by Devil and his cohorts. You can be righteous and not reign, hence the need for constant self examination and freedom from all forms of bondage and restriction.
Freedom is not cheap Matt 12:29 says or else how can one enter into a strong man’s house and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? And then he will spoil his house. One of the seven most popular people in the world Nelson Mandela who was incarcerated for twenty seven years is another testimony. The lord had to afflict Pharaoh and his people with ten different plaques before they could be let go even after four hundred and thirty years.
The number of years that has been spent in captivity is not a justification for release, it was not the fact that the man in our text had spent thirty eight years at same spot that commanded his release. It was God’s mercy manifested through Jesus that did it.

BONDAGE HOW?

The following are sources of power which the devil also seeks to bind, when one’s source of power is bound, one is obviously withheld, movement and progress are impossible, the devil does need a physical chain to bind people and things, he copies God who is a spirit(John 4:24a says God is spirit) and hence duplicates spiritual operations:
1. Prayer life: when a Christian’s prayer life is in bondage it is just a matter of time before the person becomes helpless against the devil. When prayer becomes a burden such life will soon become or remain a burden.1 Thess 5:17 says pray without ceasing. Prayer meeting is good, praying partner is better praying alone is the best.(Rev. George Adegboye)
2.Praise: This is a dangerous weapon in the spirit but the devils always wants people not doing it, he would rather have us complain and think/talk the things he hasn’t done rather than praise Jehovah, our father ,our source and sustenance. Psalm 150:6 says Let everything that has breadth praise the Lord.
3. Finance/career/work: One’s Finance can be under serious attack from the devil. The devil does not need all day to turn a fortune to frustration, Job lost all that he had in one day Job 1:13-22, John 10 :10a says the thief cometh but to steal kill and destroy, the devil is an expert in stealing, killing and destruction.
4. Marriage: Marriage and the attendant fruitfulness can be in the den of the devil, a situation where all that happens in a home is endurance not enjoyment is a clear evidence of darkness.
5. Health: James 1:17 clearly tells us that only good and perfect gifts come from our Father in heaven, wholeness is the only agenda of God for our health any manifestation contrary to this is clearly not from Him.
6. Inspiration/creativity/eyes of the spirit: if not that God came and opened the eyes of Hagar she would have lost her son and may be herself. To birth something new we need genuine and constant flow of inspiration from God as even the bible says in Ecss 1:9 that there is nothing new on earth.

WHY BONDAGE
1. For the glory of God. John 9:2
2. To mature us 2 chr 4:17
3. To make us seek Him Hosea 5:15c
4. Our Sins Matt 5:14
5. Giving room to the devil .Eph 4:27,1 Pt 5:8-9

WHAT TO DO
1.       Be a genuine child of God Prov 16:7
2.       Call, seek, find and fight for your freedom. Matt 7:7,Prov 18:10 says the name of the Lord of a strong tower.
3.       Thank and Dance your way out. Act 16:25
PRAYER
Lord by your mighty hand, release me and all that is mine from all forms of bondage in Jesus name.
