1 CHOR 1:13

Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you or were you baptized in the name of Paul?

From this verse we can clearly see relationship between men of God given the grace to plant churches and those churches, the necessities of correcting rifts and anomalies when they ensue.

Background points to note:

1.      Paul was the inspired author of this epistle         vs 1.
2.      The letter is named after the church that is in the city of Corinth vs 2.
3.      Paul by grace founded the church during his second missionary journey (eighteen months journey) Acts 18:1-18.
4.      He wrote the letter to sincerely and selflessly correct some anomalies, rancours amongst other issues that was prevalent in the church then, starting out in verse 10.
5.      Jesus’ kingship, ownership and ruler ship wasn’t of His church wasn’t feigned or ambiguous in intent, and action.

Lesson from the verse.

(a)    There is no division in Christ even as Christ and His father are one John 10:30 says I am my father are one, all agents and attitudes of divisions have no place in Christ. We must ALL be agents of peace. Heb 12:14 which says follow peace with all men and holiness without which no man shall see God.
(b)   No human (founder) died for any church hence he/she or they should NEVER be revered above Christ vs 31.
(c)    The church universal (the body of Christ) must also be kept as one not only must each church be in reverential unity.
