MIGHTY TO SAVE

TEXT: Zeph 3:15-17 & Is 63:1-3

BACKGROUND TO THE STUDY

When the cause is removed the effects will cease, for every symptom there is a cause and  both isn’t the same, so it is not only illogical to treat effects and symptoms only but it is also inconsequential. David responding to effect said in 1 Sam 17:29c which says is there not a cause.
The passage Zeph 3 the first fifteen verses is prophetic, which talks about several things that the referenced people will go through viz: being scattered, pain, chastisement and a handful of difficulties but a cursory look at the passage resonates three words: Sin, saving and restoration, Heralding the mandate of Jesus especially from verses 13, this is stated in Matt 1:21 which says and she will give birth to a son and you are to name him Jesus for he will save his people from their sins. And also Joel 2:28 which says I will restore you the years that the swarming locust has eaten.

INTRODUCTION
The devil employs all form of attacks on Christians to get their attention. He does this with intention and vigour because he knows that anything/anyone that gets one’s attention is already on the way to give such person direction. And secondly we are already in sin breaking God’s law when our attention is not on him. We are hence vulnerable little wonder he goes through all the process and means of attack, throwing all his possible darts at us. This following scriptures supports this Heb 12:2a says looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith, John 3:14 & Num 21:9 both talks of salvation by looking up to be saved and safe, the snake in the Old Testament and Jesus in the New Testament. All we need to do is look and live.
Matt 14:30 says But when he saw the wind, he started sinking, Apostle peter didn’t sink because he was walking on water or because Jesus disappeared, he sank because he shifted focus from the master JESUS lets continue to look unto Him for all round salvation and freedom.
