BACKGROUND TO THE STUDY
Proverb chapter 10 is a proverb of Solomon, a large portion of this chapter relate to the good government of the tongue, without which men's religion is vain vs. 11, 12, 13, 14, 19, 21, 31& 32 etc. It also talks about worldly wealth as that which most men have their hearts and heads fix on and working dangerously towards, but they generally mistake both in the nature of the thing they desire and in the way by which they hope to obtain it. This portion of the bible clarifies the kind of wealth which is indeed desirable as that which adds no sorrow and is from God. However the chapter also encourages diligence vs.4&5 as a pre-condition for Godly wealth.

INTRODUCTION
The devil isn’t just a giver/trader, he is an experienced surplanter with tricks, full of deceits, has a track record of cheating, stealing, killing and destruction. John 10:10,Rev 12:9.Only divine intervention which is at God’s disposal and discretion saves anyone who is involved/ decides to trade with or get things from him.

WHAT IS/ARE GIFTS/BLESSINGS WITH SORROW
This are gifts whose source and sustainer is not God, it does not matter who exhibits it or where it is been exhibited (this could even be in the church) or the volume of crowd cheering. Prov. 22:10, James 1:17

GIFT/BLESSINGS WITH SORROW AND GOD
Anyone who is supposed to be or was a child of God that goes to the devil for gift with sorrow shows the following:

v  The person never had or has a severed relationship with God 1Sam 28:6
v  Is by that action saying God does not have/ is not kind enough to give him/her what is wanted Ps 24:1,Matt 7:7-9,1 John 4:8 .( capacity and character)

WHAT THE DEVIL USES TO CARRY OUT HIS EVIL MANIPULATIONS
v  he capitalises on the needs of man, also underscores and amplifies same to make the person think and act out of undue and unneeded pressure. Job 1:11,1 kings 18:22, 19:10-18 ( God was provoked by Elijah ‘s action that next assignment included his successor)
v  he knows the impatient/insatiable nature of the unbroken man. Prov. 30:16
v  he covers his baits in packages of blessing and attracts the unsuspecting and unguarded/unguided.    2 King 5:26 (Gehazi).Matt 4:9 The Jesus experience I will give you the whole world.

REFUSING THE DEVIL’S GIFT/BLESSINGS

The following are the steps to be taken to refuse the devil’s bait

v  Know God and have a clear personal way of receiving and hearing from Him. Dan 8:32,John 10:5
v  Pray for one of the nine fruits of spirit Patience Gal 5:22-23.
v  Study and meditate Gods word  Psalm 119:105,John 1:1 ff
v  Be filled and led by God’s spirit Rm.8:14
v   Resist him James 4:7
CONCLUSION
No one has ever traded with the devil and made profit or had peace, whatever anyone think the devil is giving or has given ,is an investment that must bring dangerous dimension of interest, he always gets what’s more, heavier, and more precious like peace, joy, soul, life and ultimately heaven. Resist him and flee from his gifts.   James 4:7
