DELIVERED BY GOD 1

TEXT: ACTS12:1-19

True, total and permanent deliverance can be found in God alone. John 8:36 says if the son of man shall set you free you shall be free indeed. Another scripture in not too distant verse John 8:32 says And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. What’s the truth? John 17:17 sanctify them with the truth THY WORD IS TRUTH.
God is the only warrior and deliverer that has never lost, is not loosing and will never lose any battle Ex 15:3 The lord is a man of war the Lord is his name.

The lesson is broken into some headings:

(a)   The Man Peter.
(b)   Roled played in peter’s deliverance.
(c)    Aftermath of the deliverance.

THE MAN PETER
·         One of Jesus’s disciple:  Matt 10:2,Mark 3:16,Luke 6:13 lists the disciples of Jesus and coincidentally Peter’s name is the first on all this list.

·         One of the three closest disciple of Jesus: Matt 17:1-6 details the world famous transfiguration experience which has in attendance three close disciples of Jesus.

·         The leader of the Apostle and head of the church at that time: John 21:15-17 the emphasis is on the seventh verse which says He saith to him again the second time, Simon son of Jonas lovest thou me? He saith unto him yea Lord, thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him feed my sheep, giving Peter an oversight function on the then apostles and the church by extension. Hence the devil attempt to scatter the church by attacking the shepherd. Zech 13:7b.

FREEDOM FROM SIN

TEXT: JOHN 5:1-14

Foreword: sin is bondage, little wonder Apostle Paul cried out Roman 7:24 says o wretched man that I am! Who shall save deliver me from the body of this death. And also Romans 7:15 says for that which I do I allow not for what I would that do I not but what I hate that I do.
Sin leads to bondage, John 5:14 which says Afterwards Jesus findeth him in the temple and said unto him behold thou art made whole sin no more lest a worse thing come unto thee. From this verse we can deduce that sin was the cause of this mans’ predicament a situation that has lasted for THIRTY EIGHT YEARS.
May God save us and give us grace, will and wisdom to be above board in Jesus name.
INTRODUCTION
All that the Devil needs to bring anyone (no matter how highly placed, anointed or revered) is to introduce sin and an unrepentant sinful life to the individual. It succeeded in the garden of Eden Gen 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman ye shall not surely die, the aftermath is in Gen 3:24 which says so he drove out the man and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword which turned every way of the tree of life.
Halleluyah he failed with Jesus in the wilderness via the word by the word Himself. Matt 4:4, 4:7, 4:10 and John 1:14a which says and the word was made flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the father full of grace and truth.
WHAT IS FREEDOM
According to the Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary New Eight Edition, the third definition it is the state of not being a prisoner or slave. And the scriptures has this to say in Romans 6:16 which says know ye not that to whom ye yield yourself servant to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey, whether of sin unto death or of  obedience unto righteousness. By interpretation I am servant to whom I obey sin or God.

WHAT SIN DOES
·         Steals peace                                                     Rom 3:17
·         Breaks Fellowship with God                          Gen 3:8
·         Destroys courage                                     Prov 28:1
·         Enslaves                                                  Rom 6:16
·         Closes Heaven                                        Rev 21:27
·         Make us fall short of Gods glory           Rom 3:23

  SOLUTION TO SINNING
1.   Accept the fact that you are sinner: Gen 6:5 and God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and every imagination of his heart was evil continually. This scriptures still explains what is in the heart of man till date, Discovery of self is the first step to freedom. We must identify our sinful nature(s).
2.   Repent confess and forsake: Proverb 28:13 says he that covereth His sins shall not prosper but whosoever confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. The next step is to sincerely repent , confess and forsake all SINS.
3.    Determine to live a holy life: To be determined is to make a decision and be intentional about keeping such decision 1 Cor 2:2 says for I determined not to know anything among you save Jesus Christ and Him crucified. Determination to focus on Jesus and to live a holy life is a decision that we all have to and be determined to keep it by God’s grace.
4.   Pray for grace: correct and consistent followership of Christ and His course is not possible but for His grace.1 Sam 2:9 says for by strength shall no man prevail. Zeph 4:6b Not by might, nor by power but by my spirit saith the Lord of hosts.
5.   Run from all appearances of evil: The best of MEN is still a Man 1 Thessalonians 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.so we all need to flee not stay trying to prove any point because we will always fail with our strength. That is situation to sin.

CONCLUSION
Sin is a problem/bondage, Jesus is the solution, and His blood is the price, acknowledgement, repentance, confessing and forsaking of sin is ours. May God help us all.

CAN ANY GOOD COME OUT OF NAZARETH?(FULL TEXT)

TEXT: John 1:46, 7:41&42, 7:52.

The topic is broken into the following headings:

·         INTRODUCTION
·         UNDERSTANDING NAZARETH
·         WHY PEOPLE ARE WRITTEN OFF BY OTHERS
·         GOD AND THOSE WRITTEN OFF.
·         CONCLUSION

                               INTRODUCTION
Only God has the capacity to determine and tell precisely a person’s future Jer 1:5 says before I formed thee in the in the belly I knew thee and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
Alas some people put themselves in God’s position and think for one reason or the other nothing good or new can come out of anybody’s life. Gen 37:20 says come let us slay him and cast him into the pit and we will say some evil beast hath devoured him WE SHALL SEE WHAT WILL BECOME OF HIS DREAMS (emphasis mine) these are the brethren of Joseph thinking they had frustrated his dream but God turned it around. Gen 42:8 says And Joseph knew his brothers but they knew him not, they never thought of meeting him let alone meeting him in such place this will be our testimony this year in Jesus name.

                         UNDERSTANDING NAZARETH
(a)    The biblical Nazareth: It was not mentioned in the Old testament, our saviour when in human form grew up and started his ministry there but due to hostility He had to relocate to Carpernaum.
The name perhaps means a watch tower to some, and it is situated in the southern ridge of Lebanon 14 miles from the sea of Galilee and about 6 miles west from mount Tabor identified with modern en-Nazarah. Has a population of about six-ten thousand.(one wonders how many people were there in Jesus’ time)(illustrated bible dictionary).
(b)   The now Nazareth: this refers to your life and my life, business, career, family and ministry that has been gauged, measured, predicted and insulted.

WHY PEOPLE ARE WRITTEN OFF BY OTHERS
1.      Who they are or what they have done to the individual: John 11:24 says Martha said unto Him I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. This was what she said due to the fact her brother has been physically buried she wasn’t expecting anything rather than decay to happen to her brother, this could also be spiritual (may God give us understanding). Some persons who are bosses to others could by the reason of who they write off others.
2.      Level of exposure or educational background: Acts 2:7-13 according to the KJV version of the bible there were three reactions to speaking in tongues by the Christ ordained apostles: amazement, doubt and mockery, and this is due to no other reason than the fact they accessed their level of exposure and education and this does not tally with their speaking of international languages.
3.      Present situation/predicament: 2kings 6:28-30 tells of a situation of famine so terrible that women agreed to eat the children they gave birth to in turns and a problem ensued. Fast-forward to  2kings 7:1-2  which says Then Elisha said, hear ye the word of the Lord, thus saith the Lord, Tomorrow about this time shall a  measure of flour be sold for a shekel and two measures of barley for a shekel in the gate of Samaria.2. Then the lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God and said behold, if the Lord would make windows in heaven might this thing be? he doubted God’s word because he properly understood the present situation at the expense of God.
4.            Connections: people can look at the connections that one has and be able to conclude what outcome       life has in stock for the person knowing fully well that association matters in a person’s life. Little            wonder John 5:7 says the impotent man answered him sir, I have no man, when the water is         troubled to put me into the pool, but while I am coming another steppeth down before me.  The    man obviously had two problems he was impotent and had nobody to help him, hence he was there      for thirty eight years.
5.            History/statistics/facts: they say history repeat itself, but I will rephrase that history unchecked    repeats itself. Kind David’s father wasn’t a king. Is 43:19 says Behold I will do a new thing now it    shall spring forth shall ye not know it I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

            GOD AND THOSE WRITTEN OFF
1.He raises men from unexpected backgrounds.1 Sam 2:8 says he raiseth the poor our of the dust and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill to set them among the princes and to make them inherit the throne of glory for the pillars of the earth are the Lords’ and hath set the world upon them. God specializes in raising men from unexpected backgrounds and crowning them.
2. Creates a Surprise with them: John 9:9 says some said this is he, others said he is like him but he said I am he.
3. Uses them to publicize His glory: John 9:3 says Jesus answered neither hath this man sinned nor his parents but that the works of God should be made manifest. God changes people’s destiny, surprises mockers, does what is unexpected positively in a life for His glory.

                         CONCLUSION
God does not need our family: history, status, location, where we hail from to make greatness and a name out of us. He is able to turn all situations around. Eph 3:20 says now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that worketh in us. Halleluyah.
